Goose down blanket – the power of tradition

However, it is not only important what we sleep on, but also what we sleep under. Down blankets in cotton covers have provided warmth for centuries, even during harsh winter nights.

Nowadays, few people make their own pillows from hand-picked down and goose down. Down blankets, however, guarantee exactly the same properties. High-quality down duvets (100% down or with a small amount of soft feathers) are soft, very warm and adapt perfectly to the body shape for comfortable sleeping. Natural down does not clump together, does not shift to the ends of the filling and is very durable. Regular airing and cleaning every 10 years or so should even lead to a 50-year lifespan.

Goose down duvets – why choose them?

Down duvets are fluffy, resilient and light – they weigh about 2.5 kg (a full bag of down or feathers weighs about one kilogram). Down is resilient. As a result, a down blanket (unlike many synthetic fillings) retains its original shape for a long time.

It gently adapts to the body, enveloping it and providing warmth during sleep. Natural down has thermo-active properties, it warms up excellently even at low temperatures. Down duvets are excellent for winter. It is worth noting that they provide good air circulation and prevent overheating of the sleeping body, so they can be used all year round.

Who are down duvets for?

Soft down duvets have a very pleasant feel, which is why they are liked by people who want to sleep comfortably. A wide choice of fill sizes ensures that blankets with this natural filling fit almost every bed and mattress.

However, it is worth remembering that natural down is not recommended for people who are allergic to dust mites or mould. In cases of mild allergies and no sensitivity to house dust mites, allergists allow bedding with such a filling (depending on the individual reaction to down).
